THERMOCOUPLES FOR BOILER HIGH SPEED WATER AND PRESSURE

In modern steam generating units where extreme conditions of temperature and pressure are reached, it is necessary to use particular thermocouples assemblies for the measurement of feedwater and steam temperature.
There thermocouples, beyond accuracy, must satisfy some special requirements as resistance to shock and vibrations, high speed of response and exceptional sturby construction to withstand the stress caused by water and steam flowing at high speed.

Resistance to shock and vibration

Thermocouples are nade from self-arnoured mineral insulated cable.
Sensing conductors are awaged with high purity, highly compacted mineral insulation, usually magnesium oxide (MgO) and protected with a ST.steel or special alloy sheath.
This kind of construction ensures a very strong safeguard against the effects of compression, shock and vibration.

High speed of response

The high thermal conductivity and small mass of mineral insulation, allow a very quick response to temperature variation.

Mechanical resistance

The heavy duty application of these thermocouples require that thermowells be designed and manufactured with particular care to guarantee high mechanical strength to withstand limiting conditions of pressure, temperature and vibration due to fluid spedd.
